The Airport Industry Awards |
|
The results are based on 12 million passenger surveys completed in a 10-month survey period, covering
over 388 airports. The survey evaluates the total passenger experience across 39 airport service and product features, from arrival at an airport, through transit and departure processes to the boarding gate.
Since 1999, this annual airport customer survey has been respected for clarity and independence, with no airport influence or bias. The World Airport Awards are the global benchmark of airport excellence, known as the Passenger's Choice Awards.

In a new award for 2012, London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 has been voted the World's Best Airport Terminal by airline
travellers at the World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Vienna.
"Despite initial teething problems when Terminal 5 opened in 2008, it has since
become a firm favourite with passengers. The architecture, ambience and terminal
layout was repeatedly mentioned in the feedback in the survey, as well as the
extensive range of shopping and dining options in the departures area." said
Edward Plaisted of SKYTRAX.
John Holland-Kaye, Commercial Director of London Heathrow Airport said, "We are thrilled that Heathrow has been rewarded for a third time at the prestigious World Airport
Awards. Terminal 5 is a great showcase of our vision of Heathrow's future and the level of passenger

of choice is being recognised by the most important judge, our passengers."
Other airport terminals featuring in the top 5 this year, include Singapore Changi Terminal 3, Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3, Terminal 2 at San Francisco
International Airport and Terminal 4 at Madird Barajas Airport.
