The Airport Industry Awards |
|
The results are based on 12 million passenger surveys completed in a 10-month survey period, covering
over 388 airports. The survey evaluates the total passenger experience across 39 airport service and product features, from arrival at an airport, through transit and departure processes to the boarding gate.
Since 1999, this annual airport customer survey has been respected for clarity and independence, with no airport influence or bias. The World Airport Awards are the global benchmark of airport excellence, known as the Passenger's Choice Awards.

Cape Town International Airport has the Best Airport Staff service in Africa say airline customers at the 2012 World Airport Awards |
Cape Town International Airport has wone the award for the Best Airport Staff in Africa at the 2012 World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Vienna.
"We congratulate Cape Town International Airport on the fantastic achievement of being named Best Airport Africa and also having the Best Airport Staff in
Africa. The staff and management should be proud of this double award after briefly relinquishing the Best Airport title to OR Tambo in Johannesburg in
2011" said Edward Plaisted, Chairman of SKYTRAX.
Deon Cloete, the General Manager for Airport Company South Africa: Cape Town International Airport
said "These achievements were made possible
through and with the collective effort of all of the good men and women serving at Cape Town
International Airport, heroes each and every one of them, committed to making a difference, one day
at a time, one passenger at a time. This reminds us that an airport is not just a building; there is
a strong team of people, who work hard every day to create a positive airport experience for all.
They also re-affirm our commitment to continuous improvement and delivering the best service to all
our airport users."
"This a proud moment for not only the airport but the region as well as it clearly demonstrate that
we are able and are competing in the global arena and proud that we are able to do our bit as the
gateway to Cape Town and the Western Cape. We are extremely proud of these accolades. Delivering an excellent customer service experience
is an ongoing focus for Cape Town International Airport and its airport community. We also value the
feedback we receive from our airport users, both negative and positive, as these assist us in
consistently improving for the benefit of the airport user," concluded Cloete.
Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport achieved 2nd place, with King Shaka International Airport (Durban) in 3rd.
Mauritius (Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport) achieved 4th place with East London Airport (South Africa) in 5th place.
