The Airport Industry Awards |
|
The results are based on 12 million passenger surveys completed in a 10-month survey period, covering
over 388 airports. The survey evaluates the total passenger experience across 39 airport service and product features, from arrival at an airport, through transit and departure processes to the boarding gate.
Since 1999, this annual airport customer survey has been respected for clarity and independence, with no airport influence or bias. The World Airport Awards are the global benchmark of airport excellence, known as the Passenger's Choice Awards.

Tokyo International Airport Haneda wins top award for the Best Airport Immigration Service at the World Airport Awards |
Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) has the world's Best Airport Immigration Service, announced at the 2012 World Airport Awards which
were held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Vienna.
"Tokyo Haneda proved to be a popular choice with passengers during this years voting and rose several places in the global ranking. The
quality and efficiency of immigration service is a rather emotive subject for passengers and the airport management and immigration staff
at Haneda should be proud of this fantastic achievement." said Edward Plaisted, Chairman of SKYTRAX.
The Airport Immigration features in the customer survey covered various criteria, from waiting times and queuing systems, to the attitude
and friendliness of staff, through to the customer's perceived efficiency of the immigration service.
Last years winner Kuala Lumpur International Airport obtained a 2nd place finish, with Incheon International Airport taking 3rd place. Perennial favourite Singapore Changi finished in 4th place with Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport achieving 5th.
