InterContinental OR Tambo Airport is chosen by guests as the Best Airport Hotel in Africa at the 2012 World Airport Awards

The InterContinental QR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg was named as the Best Airport Hotel in Africa at the 2012 World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Vienna.

"We congratulate the InterContinental QR Tambo on their repeat success at this years awards. Winning the prize for Best Airport Hotel in Africa is a fantastic achievement and is certainly a feat that staff and management should be very proud of," said Edward Plaisted of SKYTRAX.

The Garden Court OR Tambo Airport was ranked in 2nd place, with the Novotel Cairo Airport 3rd. Southern Sun Maputo achieved 4th place with the Iberotel Cairo Airport Hotel in 5th place.

WORLD 'S BEST AIRPORT HOTELS

The Best Airport Hotel Awards recognise the finest airport hotels across the globe. A popular customer survey, over 927,000 airport hotel guests participated, drawn from 87 different nationalities. A total of 375 airport hotels were included in the survey results. Hotel guests nominated their favourite airport hotel based on 16 key performance indicators of their experiences, the criteria including comfort and cleanliness of rooms, standard of food and beverage outlets and hotel staff service Quality. The location and ease of transfer between terminal and hotel was also an important item of customer satisfaction.
