The world’s largest, annual airport passenger satisfaction survey with 11 million air travellers from over 160 countries participating. The survey evaluates customer experience across 39 different airport service and product factors. It analyses service Quality for departure, arrival and transit, including terminal facilities, comfort and cleanliness, security and immigration services, signage and directions, shopping and dining standards, staff service ... and much more. The survey is globally respected for its total impartiality and independence, being regarded as the global benchmark of airport excellence and Quality ranking.

"Introduced into our 2009 Survey for the first time, the Staff Service Excellence Award is greatly coveted by airports, because it is a unique recognition of the hard work put in by their customer facing, front-line staff" said Edward Plaisted of Skytrax.

"Staff Service Excellence Awards are voted for by airport customers, and allow these users to have a real impact in deciding which airport's front-line staff deserve special recognition. The Staff Service Excellence awards encompass all the potential service touchpoints through the airport experience - this might be security or immigration procedures, service in a shop or food outlet, or staff cleaning the washrooms. These are all people related aspects of service, where in reality it costs nothing extra for staff to be helpful, polite and friendly ... and yet as our survey results highlight, some airports deliver much higher standards than others in this area. In seeking to maximise customer satisfaction and encourage passengers to want to use an airport again, the Quality of front line service is critical. It is the quality of service experience that has the greatest impact on post-travel assessment of an airport, and why we place such importance on this element" added Plaisted.

1. INCHEON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT


Incheon International Airport is the largest airport in South Korea, serving Seoul. It is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. Since 2005 it has received the full 5-star ranking by Skytrax, a recognition shared only by Hong Kong International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport. The airport has a golf course, spa, private sleeping rooms, ice skating rink, a casino, indoor gardens and a Museum of Korean Culture. The main passenger terminal (496,000 sq metres) is the largest airport terminal in area in South Korea, and the ninth largest passenger terminal in the world.



2. KUALA LUMPUR AIRPORT


Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is one of Asia's major aviation hubs and is a destination in itself, located approximately 50 km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. The Main Terminal Building area was designed using the concept of 'Airport in the forest, forest in the airport', in which it is surrounded by green space. Kuala Lumpur International Airport is capable of handling 35 million passengers, it is one of the first Asia Pacific airports to become 100% BCBP (Bar Coded Boarding Pass) capable. KLIA can be reached by the KLIA Express and the KLIA Transit train services. KLIA Express provides a non-stop express train service to the KL City Air Terminal - the non-stop trip between Kuala Lumpur and KLIA is 57 kilometers and takes 28 minutes.



3. SINGAPORE CHANGI AIRPORT


Serving more than 100 international airlines flying to some 200 cities in 60 countries, Changi Airport handles about 5,400 arrivals and departures every week and over 42 million passengers a year (that's more than 7 times the size of Singapore's population). With over 40,000 square metres of commercial space, Changi Airport is also one of Singapore's largest shopping locations.



The World's Best Airports

Hong Kong International Airport was named the Worlds Best Airport by air travellers across the globe. A favourite of travellers worldwide, Changi Airport Singapore was a close runner up ranking 2nd in 2011. Incheon International Airport, the winner in 2009 was also in close contention, in 3rd place. Munich Airport ranked 4th in the world and won the Best Airport Europe title. Beijing Capital Airport continued its improvement in the global ratings, also named Best Airport China. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was 6th, winning Best Airport Western Europe. Zurich Airport ranked 7th, Auckland Airport was Best Airport Australia/Pacific and 8th worldwide. Kuala Lumpur ranked in 9th, winning the Best Immigration category. Copenhagen Airport enters the Top 10 ranking and named Best Airport Northern Europe.
