John C. Mok, Chief Executive Officer, CVG Airport accepts the Best Regional Airport award |
Best Regional Airport Awards recognises airports (sometimes smaller airports) that are delivering the highest levels of service and customer satisfaction. The definition of a regional airport is variable around the world, but for the survey results, a regional airport is normally not a capital city airport, and is not a major hub serving long haul intercontinental routes.
Many regional airports covered in the survey handle a substantial number of passengers, but concentrate primarily on short to medium haul routes.
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has been named Best Regional Airport in North America
at the 2011 World Airport Awards. The passenger survey asked customers to rate the quality of service and airport facilities across 39 key performance indicators. In 2nd place is
Denver International Airport, ahead of San Francisco International Airport in 3rd.
