The Respected Airport Awards

The world’s largest, annual airport passenger satisfaction survey with 11 million air travellers from over 160 countries participating. The survey evaluates customer experience across 39 different airport service and product factors. It analyses service Quality for departure, arrival and transit, including terminal facilities, comfort and cleanliness, security and immigration services, signage and directions, shopping and dining standards, staff service ... and much more. The survey is globally respected for its total impartiality and independence, being regarded as the global benchmark of airport excellence and Quality ranking.

accepts the Best Regional Airport award

Best Regional Airport Awards recognises airports (sometimes smaller airports) that are delivering the highest levels of service and customer satisfaction. The definition of a regional airport is variable around the world, but for the survey results, a regional airport is normally not a capital city airport, and is not a major hub serving long haul intercontinental routes. Many regional airports covered in the survey handle a substantial number of passengers, but concentrate primarily on short to medium haul routes.

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has been named Best Regional Airport in North America at the 2011 World Airport Awards. The passenger survey asked customers to rate the quality of service and airport facilities across 39 key performance indicators.  In 2nd place is Denver International Airport, ahead of San Francisco International Airport in 3rd.

The SKYTRAX Guarantee

1. CINCINNATI / NORTHERN KENTUCKY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Officially known as Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Cincinnati Airport serves the Greater Cincinnati area, with more than 10 million passengers using the airport each year. Downtown Cincinnati is 13 miles north-east of the airport, a 25-minute trip by airport shuttle. The airport has three terminals, though only two are in use. Terminal 3 is served by Delta and its regional affiliates. All international arrivals except, U.S. border pre-clearance are processed in the Mezzanine Level of Concourse B. Concourse B in Terminal 3 is well-known for its open spaces, high ceilings, large windows with views of the airfield, and natural lighting during the day.

2. DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Denver airport's distinctive white tensile fiberglass roof is aesthetically designed to be reminiscent of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains in winter. Denver International Airport is also known for a pedestrian bridge connecting the terminal to Concourse A that allows travellers to view planes taxiing directly underneath and provides sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains to the West and the high plains to the East.

3. SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT

San Francisco International Airport is a major international airport located 21 km south of downtown San Francisco. The airport is composed of four terminals and seven concourses arranged in a ring. Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 handle domestic flights. The International Terminal handles international flights and some domestic flights. Terminal 2 is undergoing renovations, which will be completed in 2011. SFO's international terminal opened in December 2000 to replace International Departures from Terminal 2.
