Maren Immelmann, Head of Passenger Services, Hamburg Airport receives the 2011 Best Regional Airport
Europe Award |
Best Regional Airport Awards recognises airports (sometimes smaller airports) that are delivering the highest levels of service and customer satisfaction. The definition of a regional airport is variable around the world, but for the survey results, a regional airport is normally not a capital city airport, and is not a major hub serving long haul intercontinental routes.
Many regional airports covered in the survey handle a substantial number of passengers, but concentrate primarily on short to medium haul routes.
Best Regional Airport in Europe was a closely contested category in this year's awards with the top-2 airports being just 1 place apart in the overall rankings. It was a double celebration for Germany with Hamburg Airport clinching the top spot and Dusseldorf Airport coming in 2nd. Porto Airport reached 3rd place having
moved up this years rankings. "The overall efficiency of Hamburg Airport proved to be a key reason for its success in this years awards. Key to this was some high
standards of staff service which clearly influenced the passengers in this category"
said Edward Plaisted of Skytrax.
