The passenger survey asked customers to rate the quality of
service and airport facilities across 39 key performance indicators.
Bangalore International Airport won prestigious Best Airport India award at the 2011 World Airport Awards.
The prestigious and extremely creditable award is based on 11.38 million survey questionnaires completed by
over 100 nationalities of world air travellers, covering more than 240 airports worldwide in 2011. At the
global level, Bangalore International Airport earned a special mention for being among the three airports
nominated for the best improvement in one year in global rankings.

1. BANGALORE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Bengaluru International Airport is an international airport serving Bangalore. The airport is located 40 km
from the central business district of Bangalore. For the of May 2008 to Dec 2010, it was the fourth busiest
airport in India in terms of overall passenger traffic and fifth busiest in terms of international passenger
traffic. The airport handled about 9.3 million passengers and had air traffic movements (ATM) of about 280 per
day in the year 2009 and is expected to handle 17 million passengers by 2015. The passenger terminal is a
single, fully air conditioned building, the domestic and international departure lounges, and majority of the
retail outlets are located on level 2. The terminal is designed for ease of operation and minimum
maintenance. The total floor area is approx 760,000 sq ft and the building is designed to accommodate 3,000
passengers at peak hour.
2. HYDERABAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Hyderabad International Airport is an international airport about 22 km south of downtown Hyderabad. The
airport is named after former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. Design and construction began in
September 2005 and the airport was opened in March 2008 - being developed in three phases, and when completed
will provide infrastructure for 40 million passengers annually. The ultimate master plan provides for a
capacity of 40 million passengers per annum with the accompanying air and ground facilities.
3. DELHI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Indira Gandhi International Airport is the primary airport of Delhi, situated 16 km southwest of New Delhi's
city center. Named after Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, it is the busiest airport in India
in terms of daily flight traffic. in 2007, the airport handled 23 million passengers annually and the planned
expansion program will increase its capacity to handle 100 million passengers by 2030. The new Terminal 3
building has had the capacity to handle an additional 34 million passengers annually since the start of the
2010 Commonwealth Games. Indira Gandhi's Terminal 3 is the world's eighth largest passenger terminal.

Hong Kong International Airport was named the Worlds Best Airport by air
travellers across the globe. A favourite of travellers worldwide, Changi Airport Singapore was a close runner up ranking 2nd in 2011. Incheon International Airport, the winner in 2009 was
also in close contention, in 3rd place. Munich Airport ranked 4th in the world and won the
Best Airport Europe title. Beijing Capital Airport continued its improvement in the global ratings, also named
Best Airport China. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was 6th,
winning Best Airport Western Europe. Zurich Airport ranked 7th, Auckland Airport was
Best Airport Australia/Pacific and 8th worldwide.
Kuala Lumpur ranked in 9th, winning the Best Immigration category. Copenhagen Airport enters the Top 10 ranking and named
Best Airport Northern Europe. |
