Copenhagen Airport has been named Best Airport in Northern Europe at the 2011 World Airport Awards. The passenger survey asked
customers to rate the quality of service and airport facilities across 39 key performance indicators.
In 2nd place is Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, ahead of Oslo Airport in 3rd.
"We are as good as our passengers rate us. We continuously listen and learn, so that we can develop the airport in a way that creates the most value
for our customers. The last couple of years, we have worked intensively to improve the experience of being a passenger in Copenhagen Airport. The award as
Northern Europe’s best airport is both a recognition and an indication that we have made the right investments" says Iben Eiby-Johannesen,
Director for Strategy & Market in Copenhagen Airport. During 2010,Copenhagen
Airport has worked hard to offer a more diversified range of shops and at the
same time emphasized to strengthen the communication options to the passengers

1. COPENHAGEN
AIRPORT
Copenhagen Airport is the main international airport serving Copenhagen, 8 kms south of Copenhagen city
centre. Copenhagen Airport handles 60 scheduled airlines and serves nearly 60,000 passengers per day - 21.5
million passengers passed through the facility in 2010, making it the busiest airport in the Nordic countries.
Copenhagen Airport has four terminals. The newest terminal is CPH Go is intended to be used by low-cost
airlines. Terminal 1 is used for all domestic flights. Terminals 2 and 3 handle international flights (both
Schengen and non-Schengen) and share a common airside passenger concourse as well as the arrivals section -
which houses customs and baggage claim and is physically located in Terminal 3..
2. HELSINKI AIRPORT
Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport is located about 17kms north of Helsinki city centre. Originally built
for the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, the airport served 13,426,901 passengers in 2008 and is the fourth
largest airport in the Nordic countries. he airport is operated by Finavia, the state-owned enterprise that
operates Finland's airports. The airport is the international and domestic hub for Finnair, the Finnish flag
carrier, and the hub for Blue1.
3. OSLO AIRPORT
Oslo Airport is the principal airport serving Oslo, and the second-busiest airport in the Nordic countries.
More than 19 million passengers traveled through Oslo Airport in 2010, of which 8.6 million were domestic,
making Oslo Airport the 6th busiest domestic airport in Europe. The airport is located 35 kms northeast of
Oslo centre. The passenger terminal covers 148,000 square metres. Passenger capacity is 17 million, although
in 2008, 19.3 million passengers used the airport.

Hong Kong International Airport was named the Worlds Best Airport by air
travellers across the globe. A favourite of travellers worldwide, Changi Airport Singapore was a close runner up ranking 2nd in 2011. Incheon International Airport, the winner in 2009 was
also in close contention, in 3rd place. Munich Airport ranked 4th in the world and won the
Best Airport Europe title. Beijing Capital Airport continued its improvement in the global ratings, also named
Best Airport China. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was 6th,
winning Best Airport Western Europe. Zurich Airport ranked 7th, Auckland Airport was
Best Airport Australia/Pacific and 8th worldwide.
Kuala Lumpur ranked in 9th, winning the Best Immigration category. Copenhagen Airport enters the Top 10 ranking and named
Best Airport Northern Europe. |
