Airport accepts the Award for Best Airport Central America |
Tocumen International Airport has been named Best Airport in Central America / Caribbean
for the second year in a row at the World Airport Awards. The passenger survey asked
customers to rate quality of service and facilities across 39 key performance indicators. In 2nd place is San José International Airport, ahead of Port of Spain Airport in 3rd. |

1. Tocumen
International Airport
Tocumen International Airport is an international airport located 15 miles (24 km) from Panama City, Panama.
In 2006, it underwent a major expansion and renovation program in order to modernize and improve its
facilities. It is currently the only airport in Central America with two runways for use and is also the
largest airport in the country and the busiest in Central America by passenger traffic. The main passenger
terminal was expanded 20,830 square meters at a cost of approximately US$ 21 million. New boarding gates were
built to allow more flights to and from Panama, and to facilitate the growth of commercial and internal
circulation areas.

The World's Best Airports |
|
Hong Kong International Airport was named the Worlds Best Airport by air
travellers across the globe. A favourite of travellers worldwide, Changi Airport Singapore was a close runner up ranking 2nd in 2011. Incheon International Airport, the winner in 2009 was
also in close contention, in 3rd place. Munich Airport ranked 4th in the world and won the
Best Airport Europe title. Beijing Capital Airport continued its improvement in the global ratings, also named
Best Airport China. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was 6th,
winning Best Airport Western Europe. Zurich Airport ranked 7th, Auckland Airport was
Best Airport Australia/Pacific and 8th worldwide.
Kuala Lumpur ranked in 9th, winning the Best Immigration category. Copenhagen Airport enters the Top 10 ranking and named
Best Airport Northern Europe. |
