Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport : Winner of Best Airport for Low-Cost Airlines Award The Passenger's Choice Awards

BERLIN-SCHOENEFELD AIRPORT WINS AWARD FOR BEST AIRPORT FOR LOW-COST AIRLINE PASSENGERS IN THE 2010 SKYTRAX WORLD AIRPORT AWARDS

The Skytrax World Airport Awards were announced at the first live Awards ceremony in Brussels, Belgium, as part of the Passenger Terminal Expo. Attended by top management from airports around the world, 30 different awards were presented by Skytrax Chairman, Mr Edward Plaisted.

Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport was named as winner of the Best Airport for Low-Cost Airlines award, ahead of Brussels Charleroi Airport (2nd) and London Stansted Airport (3rd). The Award for Best Airport for Low-Cost Airlines was presented to Mr Christian Spaak of Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport.

Edward Plaisted, Chairman of Skytrax said: “It is a great achievement for Berlin-Schoenefeld to be named as the World's Best Airport for Low-Cost Airline travellers. Berlin Schoenefeld demonstrates that even in today's most competitive sector of air travel, being this low-cost market, passengers clearly appreciate receiving an above average quality of product and service during their time at the airport. Our own consumer research highlights that low-cost airline passengers can actually be more demanding of their airport experience, and represent a very important market sector for airport operators. This award to Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport is a new category for 2010, and was introduced to reflect the substantial increase in the number of airports now catering either partly or exclusively to low cost airlines and I congratulate Berlin Schoenefeld on being such a clear winner of this category."
