Munich Airport is named as the Best Airport in Europe

Munich Airport Airport has celebrated the news that it has been named the "Best Airport Europe" - the award based on the votes of more than 9.8 million travellers from over 100 different countries. Munich Airport ranked 4th in the worldwide rankings, moving up from 5th in 2009.

Announced at The Skytrax World Airport Awards ceremony, held at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2010 in Brussels, Belgium, Skytrax World Airport Awards are the industry’s most extensive air traveller-based awards, with the survey of airport customers conducted between July 2009 and March 2010.

Munich Airport CEO, Dr Michael Kerkloh sees the enormous esteem accorded to Munich Airport as "an impressive affirmation of the joint efforts of the airport operating company, the airlines and all of the other partners working in Munich. In thanking the organizer, the airport CEO had special words of praise for the outstanding team spirit of the Munich Airport family. Despite the global economic crisis and the turmoil in the aviation industry we have succeeded in upholding Munich Airport's excellent standards of service. This amazing recognition from our passengers is the best motivation for continuing on our successful path."

World's Best Airports 2011

Hong Kong International Airport was named the Worlds Best Airport by air travellers across the globe. A favourite of travellers worldwide, Changi Airport Singapore was a close runner up ranking 2nd in 2011. Incheon International Airport, the winner in 2009 was also in close contention, in 3rd place. Munich Airport ranked 4th in the world and won the Best Airport Europe title. Beijing Capital Airport continued its improvement in the global ratings, also named Best Airport China. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was 6th, winning Best Airport Western Europe. Zurich Airport ranked 7th, Auckland Airport was Best Airport Australia/Pacific and 8th worldwide. Kuala Lumpur ranked in 9th, winning the Best Immigration category. Copenhagen Airport enters the Top 10 ranking and named Best Airport Northern Europe.
